November 3, 2024 Update
The Crestmont Courts closed on October 16, following the Columbus/Indigenous Peoples' Day Holiday. Over the past two years EMTC volunteers, staff and local contractors have made many improvements to the EMAA owned property: removed unused equipment, painted and repaired the tennis office and maintenance building, improved the landscaping, removed dead trees and replaced the well pump. In addition the tennis center buildings and grounds are now insured and have an official address: 31 Crestmont Court Eagles Mere, Pa. 17731. In early 2025 proposals will be solicited from Frontier and Comcast to provide phone and internet service to the center.
Our 2024 Tennis Director, Arturo Scotti, and staff assistants Porter Reese and Joshua Myers were highly rated by our 40 passholders and tennis program participants. We are working to bring back our entire staff for the 2025 season. In addition the "Friends of the Tennis Center" data base has been upgraded, the Sullivan County Recreation Commission, Sullivan Review and USTA have helped to publicize the program.
The EMTC committee met on July 23, 2024 to establish goals for the coming year. In addition to recommending the importance of securing Arturo's services for 2025, the members of the committee recommended fee increases to balance the budget, schedule changes and improvements in communication with the community and local organizations. A draft 2025 program and fee chart will be distributed in early 2025 for discussion.
Financial Review:
As noted on the 2023 Leadership Donation Honor Roll, 17 donors provided $17,800 to support the summer program and capital improvements. A similar donor sign will be posted with the names of 2024 Leadership Donors. Clinics for youth ages 5-17 are free and an average of 35 children participate daily in clinics for the summer program. All donations ultimately help cover the cost of EMAA program expenditures.
We hope to exceed 2023 Leadership Donations in 2024. Contributions can be made on line at: http://eaglesmereathleticassociation.com/donate.html. Make sure to add EMTC or Tennis Donation in the "In honor of" section. Or send a check to EMTC PO Box 167 Eagles Mere, Pa. 17731. I will send a thank you note when your check is received and an additional thank you will be sent by EMAA when the check is deposited.
Condolences to the Dahm Family:
The community lost a very special friend when Arnie Dahm passed away at age 91 on October 24, 2024. Arnie and his family have been tennis advocates since first coming to Eagles Mere in the 1930's for tennis tournaments. We extend our sympathy and prayers to the family.

EMTC 2024 Staffing Announcement
The Eagles Mere Tennis Center Committee is pleased to announce that Mr. Arturo Scotti will be our 2024 resident Director of Tennis. His support staff will be announced when the courts are ready for play in May.
Mr. Scotti is a Tennis Coach and instructor at the Jupiter Ocean and Racquet Club. He will take a leave of absence from the position that he has held since 2011 to join us for the summer months in the Endless Mountains of Pennsylvania. His resume includes participation in World Cup events, the Pan American Games and Venezuelan National Championships during and after his graduation from Colegio Santo Tomas de Aquino High School in Caracas, Venezuela. He attended Palm Beach Junior College and the Instituto Universitario Nuevas Profesiones and has been a full time tennis instructor since 1982.
Arturo and tennis committee members will work to increase tennis center membership, add competitive events, plan adult social activities and upgrade the quality of clinics and instruction for players of all ages and skill levels. Barbara Green, recent EMTC Chair, who encouraged Arturo to experience a summer in Eagles Mere notes that "Arturo is the best coach I have ever worked with and will raise anyone's tennis game".
We look forward to welcoming Arturo in mid-June through the Labor Day holiday. Please check the EMAA/EMTC website for season pass information, the 2024 summer tennis schedule and future updates.
